History
Since its establishment in 1953, Horiba has secured its position as a key
manufacturer of measuring and analytical devices and markets a vast array of
sophisticated products to countries around the world.
Horiba products are used in the R&D and quality control stages by companies
in nearly every industry, including the automotive and semiconductor
industries, as well as those in new materials, energy, steel, food processing,
and scientific fields. In particular, Horiba's engine emissions analyzers are
contributing greatly to the development of low-emission, fuel-efficient engines
being carried out by auto makers worldwide. Moreover, the Company's air
pollution monitors and equipment for measuring acid rain are playing
increasingly important roles in finding solutions to pressing environmental
problems that have captured worldwide attention.

1945 - founder Masao Horiba started
the “Horiba Radio Laboratory” in Kyoto Japan making trial models of home-made
pH meters.
1950 - the first domestic glass electrode pH meter was
completed.
1953 - Horiba Ltd was formed.
1971 - Horiba Ltd was listed on the Osaka and Kyoto stock
exchanges.

1972 - Subsidiaries were formed in USA and Europe
.
1974 - Standard Technology Co Ltd was formed with Horiba Ltd
holding shares.
1984 - Standard Technology Co Ltd was renamed STEC Inc.
1995 - Horiba Ltd bought a controlling share of STEC Inc.
2003 - Horiba Ltd celebrates it Golden Anniversary
